Data we collect on this website

When you browse. This website does not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies, and it does not set cookies to track you. Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse.

When you subscribe to our newsletter. We collect your email address, the language of the page you subscribed from, the page where you subscribed and your approximate country (derived from your IP address). We use this information only to send you our newsletter in the right language: new tutorials, practical tips and news about our books and courses.

When you write to us. We use your email address and the content of your message only to answer you.

When you buy a book or a course

Our books and courses are sold on dedicated sales and checkout pages. When you make a purchase, we collect the information needed to process your order and give you access to your product: your name, your email address, your billing country and your order details. Payments are processed by specialised payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal); we never see or store your full card number. Those pages may use their own cookies and tools, which are described on the pages themselves.

Legal bases

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• your consent, for the newsletter (you can withdraw it at any time);
• the performance of a contract, to deliver the books and courses you buy;
• our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and answering your messages;
• our legal obligations, for example keeping invoices.

How long we keep your data

• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
• Orders: for the period required by accounting and tax law.
• Messages: for as long as needed to answer you and follow up on your request.

Who processes your data

We do not sell your personal data. It is processed only by the service providers we need to run the website and our business, such as our hosting provider (Cloudflare), our payment providers and our email providers. Some of them may process data outside your country; in that case, they offer appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, write to contact@knittingmastery.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link included in every email.

If you live in the European Economic Area (the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), Switzerland or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
